Dave Milne,
SENIOR AGRICULTURAL REPORTER,
DePutter Publishing Ltd.
Having grown up on a mixed farming operation in Grey County - and graduating from the Print Journalism program at Belleville College – my work at DePutter Publishing has allowed me to combine my agricultural background and my chosen profession.
It has been a learning experience. Indeed, it is not until you really delve into agricultural markets in detail that you come to realize and understand the wide-ranging global supply and demand factors that ultimately dictate what price a producer receives for a commodity at the farm gate level.
It can be a complicated process to try and figure it all out. And that’s where we at DePutter Publishing come in. Our farm market news service can provide farm operators and agri-businesses with the information they need to know, providing the facts in a straight-forward, easy to understand manner that cuts to the heart of the issue.
As a both a reporter and editor, I spent the bulk of my journalism career in relatively small Ontario towns – Meaford and Port Hope – where agriculture was a major part of the economy and community. An approximately four-year stop in Toronto reminded me of just how much I enjoyed driving the country roads and talking to farmers in the smaller centres I had worked previously.
It’s good to be back.
